Gemma & John

Some weddings feel like they’re straight out of a storybook, and Gemma & John’s wedding at Buckhurst Park was exactly that. From the charming ceremony at St Michael and All Angels Church in Withyham to the stunning private estate of Buckhurst Park, every moment of their day was filled with love, energy, and unforgettable memories.

Gemma and John’s story is one of shared passions, adventure, and deep connection—a relationship that began through their love of Henley Royal Regatta Rowing. The stories told throughout the day, from their first meeting to the incredible life they’ve built together, painted a picture of two people perfectly matched in every way.

As a documentary wedding videographer, I always aim to capture moments as naturally as possible, and this wedding provided the perfect opportunity to do just that. Every interaction, every laugh, and every heartfelt word added to a wedding film that will allow them to relive their day exactly as it happened.

St Michael and All Angels Church was the perfect setting for their heartfelt vows and emotional "I dos." With its stunning architecture and welcoming atmosphere, it provided an intimate and deeply moving space for their ceremony. Some churches can be difficult to film in due to restrictions, but this one was a dream—thanks to the incredibly accommodating vicar, who brought warmth and personality to the service.

After stepping out of the church as husband and wife to cheers, confetti, and beaming smiles all around, Gemma and John made their way to Buckhurst Park for the reception.

Buckhurst Park is a breathtaking private wedding venue in East Sussex, offering a grand driveway, sprawling grounds, and a timeless charm that makes it one of the most picturesque wedding venues I’ve had the pleasure of filming at. As guests arrived for cocktail hour, I captured some amazing candid conversations and heartfelt speeches, filled with honest, open, and emotional stories of Gemma & John’s journey together.

One of the most powerful parts of the day was hearing genuine, unfiltered stories from friends and family. Their speeches touched on both the highs and the hardships of life together, painting a beautiful picture of love, resilience, and partnership. Capturing these moments felt incredibly special, and I know they will be treasured for years to come.

As guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn, Gemma & John took a moment just for themselves, wandering the stunning Buckhurst Park grounds. The venue provided an idyllic setting for a quiet escape, and the time away from the crowd gave them a chance to truly take in the day. I had the pleasure of working alongside photographer Jonny MP, who was fantastic throughout—I highly recommend him if you’re looking for a relaxed and talented photographer to capture your day.

Then came golden hour—and what a golden hour it was. The light was absolutely stunning, the best I’ve captured so far. The way the sun dipped over the rolling grounds of Buckhurst Park made for some breathtaking, natural moments, and you could just feel the magic in the air.

As day turned to night, the energy only amped up. Fake Tan, one of the best event bands I’ve ever seen, took to the stage and absolutely nailed it. Their quirky style, unique mashups, and incredible energy kept the dance floor packed from start to finish. If you’re looking for a band that guarantees an unforgettable party, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

Between sets, I took the opportunity to record some Friends & Family messages—a video guest book where guests shared heartfelt words, stories, and best wishes for Gemma & John. These moments are priceless, adding depth to their wedding film and capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
