Some weddings are more than just a single day—they’re an experience, and Bethany & Ed’s wedding at Château La Durantie was exactly that. Their family and closest friends gathered in this stunning 19th-century château in the heart of the Dordogne countryside for a week-long celebration, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. While I was only there for the wedding day—it was a rare opportunity for their loved ones to slow down, connect, and truly soak in the magic of a destination wedding in France. The intimate setting, the breathtaking backdrop, and the joyous energy of everyone there made it a wedding like no other—one that felt like a scene from a timeless French love story.

The night before the wedding, I was invited to join the couple and their guests for pizza and beer—a relaxed and intimate evening that set the tone for what was to come. As a documentary wedding videographer, blending in with the guests before the big day is always a huge advantage. It allows people to feel comfortable around me, which in turn helps me capture the most genuine, natural moments on film. By the time the wedding day arrived, everyone was at ease, allowing the footage to feel even more personal and authentic.

The morning of the wedding was full of excitement as everyone got ready, with guests arriving throughout the day. It looked like the perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony, but as the hours passed, dark clouds rolled in, and heavy rain changed the plan. Thanks to the quick thinking and seamless execution of wedding planner Karen from Perfect Day by Karen, the ceremony was moved inside—a beautiful transformation that kept the magic alive. Château La Durantie, with its grand interiors and historic charm, proved to be the perfect setting, no matter the weather.
Despite the unexpected rain, the day was nothing short of breathtaking. Bethany and Ed’s love filled every moment, and when the weather finally cleared, we took the opportunity to explore the stunning château grounds, nearby orchards, and the charming town of Durantie for some couple portraits. Stepping away from the celebration for a while gave them a chance to take everything in and enjoy a few quiet moments together before the evening celebrations began.
Then, the evening took on a whole new energy. The band played loud, drinks flowed freely, and the dance floor was non-stop chaos in the best possible way. As the night went on, the celebration reached an unforgettable climax—the entire wedding party, including Bethany and Ed, jumping into the pool in their wedding attire! It was the perfect way to close out an already wild, joy-filled night.

As their documentary wedding videographer, I wanted to make sure Bethany and Ed’s film didn’t just showcase the big moments but also captured the smaller, unscripted interactions—the ones that bring a wedding story to life. I had both Bethany and Ed mic’d up throughout the day, allowing me to record candid conversations, heartfelt exchanges, and crystal-clear vows and speeches that they can relive forever. I also interviewed family members and the groom, capturing personal stories and reflections that add depth and emotion to their wedding film.
